What is a Consumer Unit?

A consumer unit, often referred to as a fuse box, is the heart of your home’s electrical system. It distributes electricity to different circuits in your property and contains essential safety features such as fuses or circuit breakers. Modern consumer units include Residual Current Devices (RCDs),Residual Current Circuit Breaker with Overcurrent Protection (RCBOs) and Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCBs), which are designed to protect you from electrical shocks and prevent electrical fires by shutting off power in case of a fault.

My Burglar Alarm company of some 20 years had closed down as the owner had retired. I Googled for a supplier of this service, on Google Maps and found one just 5 minutes away from our office. Ian came on time and assessed the problem in minutes and completed the job, including fitting a new. Back Up battery in under 30 minutes and also charged a fair price…..what more could one ask for?

Having your dream kitchen built is always a challenge, what you think you want can change over the course of the installation. Having started with a plan, it changed as time went on. Ian accommodated me throughout with the electrical aspects of the job, even when I asked for things to be changed or added during the process. He also had the experience and insight to suggest things that I hadn’t even thought of, but that I absolutely would have regretted not having done when it was finished. I have absolutely ended up with a kitchen that not only suits me perfectly, but is of outstanding quality. Thank you.
